As you can probably tell from the title I had the honour of a photoshoot with the lovely Maddie from Madison May Photography.. She approached me on facebook asking if she could take some photographs of Buddy and I for her portfolio and website which I was super excited about! She went on to explain that she hadn’t photographed horses since she was little and wanted to promote this as a service on her website for other equestrians. I mean.. Who wouldn’t want to photograph Buddy? He is beautiful. We arranged a date and she came over to the yard to meet Buddy and I. I have to say she made me feel at ease straight away and comfortable which is what you expect from a good photographer.
9.30am and we quickly got started due to the lighting being perfect for the stable shots we both wanted. She explained to me the types of photographs she wanted from Buddy and I.. I was so nervous as I have only ever had friends and family take photos of me for my blog and instagram but this felt like the real deal.. Time to pose! Although she wanted natural shots I had to do some posing right. Buddy was a really good boy to start off with but quite quickly decided to play up as all his friends were in the field and he was being made to ‘look pretty’ in different locations. This was easy to sort out by bribing him with treats.. Great horse owner I am!
The stable shots came out beautifully, especially of Buddy! We got quite a few but the above were my favourite and they have been edited to perfection. I really was impressed when I received these photos through. I wasn’t expecting them to be of such good quality! Maddie was great when asking what she wanted from the shots, she kept the chat flowing and really took into consideration how Buddy was and how he was feeling. Trying to get him to look over the door wasn’t that easy at first.. Treats?! We then went on to some more natural photos in front of some greenery which came out really nicely especially with the head collar Buddy was wearing contrasting with the green.
I really like the up close one of Buddy’s muzzle. It looks like something you would find in a magazine and I am not just saying that. I love his bay coat against the red and blue polo head collar. Obviously I had to have my Mackenzie & George fedora hat on and that just made the pictures in my eyes! Maddie didn’t just take photographs of Buddy and I together, she took some shots of him on his own in the field and in the stable. Trying to get him to stand in a field full of lush grass without eating it just wasn’t working so we let him off and took some more natural shots of him.
